Guiding Scripture: Proverbs 31:30: “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.”

Women of God's Word are uniquely equipped to nurture Godly homes and to be a force for the Gospel in the workplace and in the community. We seek to give the women of our church and our community a place to come and study God's Word, receive encouragement and fellowship from sisters in Christ, and together, serve the Lord and His people. In addition to our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services, we offer these other opportunities for women to grow in their knowledge of God's Word and in their service to Him:

Women's Bible Studies

Meetings are held during three different time slots, weekly on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am or Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm and on second and fourth Fridays at 9:30 am. The study guide and schedule can be found here.

Bring your Bible!

We place great emphasis on teaching the Word of God, as is customary with Calvary Chapel churches. We teach through the Bible, book by book, chapter by chapter, and verse by verse. If you don’t have a bible, our ushers will gladly provide one. You might want to bring a pen and notebook as well!

Attire

Come as you are! We don’t get lost in what people wear but we do encourage everyone to come with a heart prepared to worship God and feast on His Word. We encourage our church body to spend time in prayer before coming to church and use the time of worship to focus on the character of our awesome God.

Praise and Worship

Through song and prayer we align our hearts with God and enter into His presence, where we can best receive what His Spirit will reveal to us through the Bible lesson. Our services feature contemporary praise and worship music as well as some more traditional hymns and songs. Worship time consists of both prayer and music, and the focus is solely on Jesus Christ. We do not endeavor to put on a show or a performance.

Families

While the greater world seeks to destroy the nuclear family, Calvary Chapel of Chapel Hill seeks to be a church that does the opposite. We encourage families to all partake in the worship songs together and offer classes for infants that walk up to age 13.

For newborns and babes, we offer a few options. Families with newborns or babies are more than welcome to sit in the service, near the back, and just make that exit if the little one needs some comforting. If you’d rather have a cozy spot to set-up post during the service, we have a family room or you can grab a table in the Fellowship Hall. During those early months of life, we believe a child is best cared for by the parents God has called to steward the young life for His glory.

For teens ages 13 and up, they attend the entire service in the sanctuary. We believe it is important for children to have the opportunity to worship with their family members and to study the Word of God with one another. If we expect teens to build their own relationships with Jesus as Savior and Lord, we need to give them the opportunity to hear the word of God preached with their families that they can be discipled, learn how to be involved in a church family, and learn how to apply lessons learned from church to every day life. Pastor Vince usually provides a charge at the end of each message, which provides some useful scaffolding to discuss the sermon after service.

Similarly, we encourage teen boys and girls to partake in women’s and men’s ministry that the older generations of the church can pour into the younger and vice versa.

After Service Fellowship

Following every Sunday service we provide complimentary coffee and snacks in the Fellowship Hall. This is a great time to get to know other people in the church and find out about upcoming activities. There are also prayer counsellors at the front of the sanctuary after every service to pray with you concerning any need, issue or person that God has placed on your heart.

On the first Sunday of each month, we have "Acts 2:42 Sundays." After our normal service with communion, we will then gather for a potluck lunch, followed by a time of prayer. This is open to the entire family, in fact we encourage kids to join!

Church Membership

We believe that membership in the greater Church happens when a person receives the free gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore we welcome anyone within the Body of Christ to worship and serve with us for any length of time allowed by the leading of the Holy Spirit. We do not require a formal, covenant agreement between members and the church.
