Guiding Scripture: Psalm 63:2-5: "I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better to me than life itself; how I praise you! I will honor you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. You satisfy me more than the richest of foods. I will praise you with songs of joy."
At Calvary Chapel of Chapel Hill we believe our time of worship is indispensable to our ministry of the Word. Through song and prayer we align our hearts with God and enter into His presence, where we can best receive what His Spirit will reveal to us through the Bible lesson. Our services feature contemporary praise and worship music as well as some more traditional hymns and songs. Worship time consists of both prayer and music, and the focus is solely on Jesus Christ. We do not endeavor to put on a show or a performance. The ministry of the musicians and the singers is to facilitate the connection between the worshippers at a given service and the Lord. Musically our prayer is to be as excellent in our execution of the music as the Lord will allow, given our individual talents. We strive for excellence not to draw attention to the musicians, but to avoid being a distraction or unpleasant to the worshippers.
If you have musical talent and believe that the Lord has placed a calling on your life to lead fellow worshippers into His presence through song and prayer, speak with Pastor David about how you can get involved.
